In early August, Samsung introduced a series of the latest flagship Galaxy Note 10. A few days ago, sales started around the world, including Russia. The first performance tests showed the absolute superiority of the Galaxy Note 10+ over the iPhone XS Max. Of course, this was not enough for enthusiasts and they started checking smartphones in the drop test. Which of the smartphones turned out to be more resistant to drops? Let's find out.
The video was posted on PhoneBuff's YouTube channel. The blogger performed a series of tests to assess the strength of the materials used and the resistance to falls. But before beginning, here is some information.
Material strength
According to Apple, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are equipped with the most durable glass among all their smartphones. The company did not go into details, confining itself only to this vague formulation. According to rumors, Apple puts in smartphones tempered glass produced by Dragontrail.
With Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, things are different. The South Korean company expressly declares that it uses Corning glass - Gorila Glass 6 in its smartphones.
Who will be the winner in this battle?
The strength test included several rounds:
Throwing them from a low height to the back surface
The winner in the first test is iPhone XS Max. Despite the fact that the back panel of both smartphones crashed, the damage to the Galaxy Note 10 was much more serious.
Falling on the side of body of the smartphone
And again - iPhone XS Max came out to be the winner. Stainless steel received minimal damage, while there were a lot of splinters on the side window of the Galaxy Note 10+.
But the third test was unsuccessful for the flagship Apple. The screen of the iPhone XS Max received more significant damage, but at the same time both matrixes could be able to operate.
Final round - ten consecutive throws down on the screen
After a series of drops, the iPhone XS Max smartphone proved to be very bad. Already on the third throw, the smartphone stopped responding to touches in certain parts of the screen. But the flagship Samsung showed itself exclusively on the positive side - the touch layer of the smartphone, despite the noticeable damage, worked fine even after the end of all tests.
The result
The verdict is obvious - Galaxy Note 10+ turned out to be a more robust smartphone than Apple smartphone. In the final race, the Korean flagship received 37 points out of 40 possible, while the iPhone XS Max - only 34. By the way, you can discuss the strength of smartphones in our Forum.
Of course, this video is not presenting the ultimate truth. In real situations, the Galaxy Note 10+ and iPhone XS Max can show completely different results. Whether the smartphone breaks or not, depends on many factors - on the height and angle of the throw, as well as on the hardness of the material at the crash site.
